You MUST bring a filled out and signed CONTRACT, along with training fees when the horse arrives at WestWay.

What level rider are you?.... find out here.

We'll meet you and learn about your riding skills, your horses history and your plans for the horse. We will then discuss the direction of your horses training with you, to make sure you and he understand the training plan for your horse.

We train in 30 day increments.  The cost of training for 30 days is $675.00/5 day week or $400/3 day week payable at time of arrival.  This cost includes feed, hay, daily watering, daily stall cleaning, daily turnout time, daily bathing/grooming, blanketing (winter months) and working the horse 5-6 days per week (weather permitting).  Horses, are ridden in the round pen and in the pasture.  We have the ability to work your horses on cattle here, and can also haul to work cattle at events (hauling is .85 per mile, we haul often).  We don't skimp on riding time.  Each horse is worked until a positive stopping point is found, each of the training days.

We also groom/bathe your horse every day (weather permitting).  We find that water is a great de-sensitizing tool, and daily grooming helps us to keep your horses skin and coat as healthy as possible while they are here.  Ground
manners are greatly improved by daily handling, bathing and tying.  Your horse stays busy and out of his/her stall for
a good portion of the day.

We are honest about training time, some horses progress faster than others, and we will let you know, as soon as we suspect further time may be required, or if your horse may not need the amount of time we originally projected.  That way, we can further discuss where your horse is at, and what to do next.

If you are interested in our services and our stalls are full, we do allow customers to hold stalls.  The cost is $50 (deducted from the $675.00 training fee when you arrive) and we reserve that space for your horse on that stalls schedule.  We take 8 horses at a time.... so the stalls do fill up fast, please take that into consideration when planning to send your horse, the earlier you call, the more likely we are to be able to fit you in on your desired dates.  Please see the
Training Contract for more information on stall deposits.

Fees not included in the training cost are:  Farrier care, Veterinary care, Medications and extra supplements.

We can pick up your horse for training if needed.  There is a .85 cent per mile roundtrip fee for pickup/delivery.

Horses taking over 30 minutes to load will cost $25.00 extra for a loading lesson.
Large sorting pen to work the horses on cattle.
First and foremost we believe and teach that horses need a good leader to really become great horses.  We will help teach your horse (and YOU) that the rider/handler is that leader and your horse will be a more confident, happy and respectful companion for it.

We focus on getting horses soft in the face, flexing well, moving off the leg, balanced, stopping correctly and confident under saddle.  We focus most on foundation training and believe a great foundation is the most important training a horse can get.  Without it, a horse has nothing to "build" on.   We can also take your horse past foundation training and onto cattle work for a horse who may go on to sort, pen or cut.

Requirements

We REQUIRE these vaccinations to train here
Because of the number of horses in and out of our barns and the multiple areas they come in from, health safety is our number one concern.

Flu/Rhino
Tetanus (eastern/western)
West Nile
Strangles

Horses teeth MUST be checked by a vet and floated if necessary.  Please have wolf teeth removed.

We provide a safe and sturdy stall for horses in training.

Soundness & Health

Just as a professional athlete would not enter into training with a broken ankle or chicken pox, we do not train horses that are not physically able to do the tasks required of them in training.  All horses must arrive in good condition and without major injury or physical deformity that would make them unable to perform the tasks required in training.  If the horses feet must be trimmed or shod, we can arrange that.  Legs, body, teeth...etc. need to be in good shape to train.  If your horses teeth need to be checked/floated, we can arrange that.

We recommend a minimum of one EXIT lesson for all customers before taking their horse home ($35.00 cost)

We are not attempting to add more cost here, but experience has shown us that this lesson familiarizes you with the riding techniques Mike has used with your horse, during his/her training.  It only enhances our value to you and your horse, to send you home "on the same page".  Many horses will go home and attempt to fall back into old patterns or develop new bad habits if the rider does not have the tools to work him/her out of them quickly and right when they develop.  Mike uses certain tools and techniques to reward and discourage behaviors, those are the techniques your horse will know and respond to the best.

Please see our contract for more details on training requirements and specifications.

Training Services
Sales

Sales

We do offer sales services for horses that we have trained or are training.  We are particular and really need to know a horse in and out to sell them.  We will post your horse for sale on our website (while they are here in our barn) and show the horse to potential buyers for a 10% commission on the sale price of the horse.

If you would like us to haul your horse to the Sale in Shawnee, OK and ride them in the sale, we do offer that service too.  We require $8.00/day care, $40.00/day fuel, $50.00 flat ride fee.
